What is the Right Scrum Certification for You?

We offer a number of online Scrum certifications and Agile qualifications through SCRUMstudy. There is no dictated order in which you must complete the certifications.

There is, however, a natural, logical progression that will give you the very best learning experience and equip you with:

  • A fully-rounded knowledge and understanding of Agile and Scrum.
  • The ability to be a transformational project manager using Scrum approaches.
  • Skills to correctly apply Agile values and Scrum approaches in a business.

Here’s our step-by-step guide for choosing the best possible path for your Scrum and Agile training with us.

Scrum Certification and Agile Qualification Path

Let’s walk through the diagram above…

Begin Here

Scrum Fundamentals Certified (SFCTM)

This Scrum introduction is included with all Scrum and Agile certifications we offer.

It’s a great way to begin to get familiar with the concepts of Scrum and iterative project management before you dive into other certifications.

A Recommended Step

Scrum Developer Certified (SDCTM)

Once you have completed Scrum Fundamentals Certified (SFCTM), we recommend this course as your starting point for all Scrum and Agile certifications.

A “scrum developer” is essentially anyone on the Scrum Team who works on the project’s deliverables.

This online course gives you a fantastic foundation knowledge of how Scrum works. It also includes the online Scrum Developer Certified (SDCTM) exam and certification.

Next Steps

Once you have constructed your foundation in Scrum and Agile knowledge through Scrum Fundamentals Certified (and perhaps Scrum Developer Certified), choose one or more of the following 3 courses:

Agile Master Certified (SAMCTM)

This is a wonderful introduction to Agile project management. Agile is the parent philosophy to Scrum; the overarching values and principles of the methodology.

We recommend Agile Master Certified for those who want a well-rounded knowledge of Agile. It can be combined with any of the other Scrum certifications available.

Scrum Master Certified (SMCTM)

Within the Scrum Team, the Scrum master acts as a servant-leader. They create the right environment for implementing Scrum, protect the team from distractions, ensure Scrum is correctly applied, and work with the Scrum Product Owner to determine priorities.

Those who are trained and certified in this key role are extremely valuable. Our online Scrum Master Certified Course is perfect for anyone who wants to become a Scrum Master.

Scrum Product Owner Certified (SPOCTM)

The Scrum Product Owner role suits anyone who is interested in stakeholder engagement. The Scrum Product Owner (SPO) is the voice of the customer within a Scrum project. They represent the customer’s interests, communicate with the Scrum Team and Customer, and define the Sprint’s (productivity cycle) deliverables.

Progress To…

To progress to the following certifications, you will need to have achieved the relevant initial course above (Scrum Master Certified, Agile Master Certified, or Scrum Product Owner Certified).

Scaled Scrum Master Certified (SSMCTM)

This is a natural progression for those who have already achieved a Scrum Master Certification.

Scaled Scrum Masters are usually working with several Scrum Teams at once. This is a wise choice for anyone working in a medium to large organisation which may have several Scrum Teams in action.

Scaled Scrum Product Owner Certified (SSPOCTM)

As with Scaled Scrum Master, Scaled Scrum Product Owner is the next step for certified Scrum Product Owners who want to expand their capabilities to work with several Scrum Teams or Scrum initiatives at once.

Expert Scrum Master Certified (ESMCTM)

We only recommend Expert Scrum Master Certified for those who have already achieved one of the other Scrum or Agile certifications mentioned here (excluding Scrum Developer Certified and Scrum Fundamentals Certified).

This is an advanced Scrum course and certification. It focuses on how to handle complex Scrum projects and situations.
